Magic - Book III:
Ryson Acumen finds that his time of service to the
Land of Uton and its people is not yet complete. Together with Holli
Brances and Lief Woodson, they must work together once more to end a
growing threat and to meet their own undeniable destinies. It is not
without loss or sacrifice as they struggle to battle grotesque forces
of malevolence. Enemies once forgotten return to hold sway over each
Under the conniving guidance of the serp Sazar,
legions of dark creatures rise out of Dark Spruce Forest. Allying
himself with a sorceress of power in the Lacobian desert, Sazar finds
the strength to rule and turns his lustful eyes eastward. Targeting the
outposts and farmlands surrounding Connel, the serp forms a dark army
to bring terror to the humans.
Even as Ryson and his elf friends struggle against
such foes, they look to the powerful wizard Enin for aid, but the
spell-caster remains withdrawn from nearly every clash. It is within
him to decimate the entire horde, but the consequences of such intended
actions trouble his very soul. An understanding of balance has taught
the wizard more than caution, it has led him to the presence of a being
of equal power, but a creature with intentions of malice. Enin's
unwillingness to interfere in the choices of individuals is born of the
belief that he must allow all those around him to seek their own path.
While these paths may differ, each will lead those that travel them to
their ultimate fate.
Just as Throne
of Vengeance was an extension of Sanctum's Breach,
this third installment, Delver Magic - Book 3: Balance of Fate,
continues the adventures of the characters from its predecessors. It is
highly recommended that you read the first two Delver Magic
novels before you begin Balance of Fate.
A bit of
history is necessary is in order for me to make my true concern of this
third novel understandable. I wrote Sanctum's Breach
in the early 1990's and Throne of Vengeance was
completed sometime around 1995. I put aside my writing for several
years. It wasn't until September 2006 that I returned to the Delver
Magic novels to make them available on-line for free. I went
through them once during the process of turning them into ebooks, but
any interested reader should know that when I started this third novel
it had been well over a decade since I wrote the first two books of the
series. I trusted on my memory when developing the plot and bringing
familiar characters into this new story, thus there is a solid chance I
might have made an error or two involving the continuity of the series.
If I have made a blatant mistake regarding the story line that makes no
sense to the reader, I ask your indulgence. Understand that it has been
a long time between writing this third installment and the first two,
and please notify me of the mistake. Perhaps I can fix it.
have made it this far in the series and you decide to read this one,
please let me know what you think of it. I wrote this third book mostly
due to the positive feedback I received from the first two. I wish to
thank all of those that sent me encouraging notes. It really is very
important to know that there are some out there that are enjoying the Delver
Magic stories. Again, thank you for your interest in my work.
